MLMs get a bad rap, and while many direct sales companies earn a bad reputation, not all of them deserve the bad press. In fact, there are many network marketing companies that aren’t predatory. If you want to make money selling the best collagen from direct sales, we’ve reviewed five well-known collagen MLMs to help you find the best option for you.

Are MLM Collagen Supplements Worth the Hype?

Finding collagen that checks every box from the source and type of collagen to a complete amino acid profile is not easy, especially when there are so many factors to consider. We’ve researched multiple brands of collagen, with varying results depending on a variety of factors. But what about collagen products from network marketing companies?

Some of our top choices come from MLMs, and while that may make some people wary, we have found that there are a lot of misconceptions about the MLM industry in general, especially when it comes to collagen. So what is the best collagen from direct sales? It’s more complicated than simply finding the best collagen (although that is crucial), it’s about finding an MLM that has good reviews from distributors and customers and fair compensation. If you’re thinking about joining an MLM to sell collagen, you probably feel overwhelmed by the research required to find a reputable company. Don’t worry, we did the legwork for you to find the best MLM for collagen.

Editor's Choice: Xyngular

Complete Collagen from Xyngular is actually complete for gut health. Complete Collagen has it all—multiple sources of collagen, it’s hydrolyzed and it has vitamin C (28% of your daily value, in fact), and a good flavor

Our number one reason for choosing Xyngular as the best direct sales company to sell collagen is that it has the best reviews and is the only collagen that hits all our criteria for high-quality collagen. With such high ratings on Glassdoor, Google and BBB, it’s no surprise that Xyngular has a competitive compensation package and products that are easy to sell because of the reasonable price point and good products.

Best Collagen From Direct Sales

To evaluate the best collagen from a direct sales company, we had to start with our basic concerns when buying anything from a direct sales company, namely the years in business, commissions, product innovation, start-up costs, product costs, and reviews. Our team performed extensive research looking into commission structures, and reviews on Better Business Bureau (BBB), Glassdoor, and Google.

We considered online reviews from past and current employees and customers. We also evaluated product innovation by scouring each company’s website for information and resources on how to use their collagen as well as options for how to use other products from the company to enhance the performance of their collagen product.

Not all MLMs are created equally, some truly seem to be created for the sole purpose of creating a huge profit margin for the leadership while not providing quality products and experiences for their employees. But some, like our top-ranked direct sales company for collagen, have found a way to be an ethical MLM with great products, fair commissions, and support for distributors.

#1: Xyngular: Low Risk, High Reward, Great Reviews

Reasons To Join

No requirement to hold inventory if you don’t want to, high-quality ingredients, great BBB rating, dozens of 5-star Google reviews, reasonable prices, and exceptional Glassdoor reviews, Complete Collagen with multiple sources and types, vitamin C, and the best flavor.

Reasons To Avoid

Other direct sales companies have beauty, cleaning, and pet products, and Xyngular specializes in supplements (although we like that they are solely focused on supplements.)

Xyngular wins our best direct sales company for collagen for multiple reasons: it’s been around long enough that you aren’t starting with a brand new company, but not so long that everyone already has a distributor or is a distributor themselves.

Xyngular also had the highest ratings on Glassdoor and BBB, as well as 4.6 stars on Google, meaning that overall, customers, distributors, and employees all liked their products and experience with Xyngular. Their compensation plan is one of the more comprehensible and has competitive commissions and bonuses. They also don’t require you to hold inventory (unless you want to). You can send buyers a link to their website using your link and you get a commission.

And finally, while other MLMs that supply collagen also make other products like beauty, hair, cleaning, and pet products, we like that Xyngular is focused solely on supplements. Their collagen is one of the best we’ve reviewed, with multiple types and sources, vitamin C, a robust amino acid profile, fulvic acid, digestive enzymes, and our favorite flavor of collagen (link to weight loss review page where we hype the flavor). Joining an MLM is a big choice, and if you are going to join one to sell collagen, this is our top pick.

#2: Modere: Good Reviews And A Solid Collagen Product

Modere’s line of collagen products is a solid second choice if you are looking to sell collagen from an MLM. They have a line of collagen products (Life, Pure, Skin, and Sport) all formulated for specific purposes, all of the collagen products have extra ingredients aimed to help specific problems

Specifications

Years In Business: 30

Startup Costs For Distributor:  $39.99

Modere Compensation Plan: retail sales, breakout bonus, dynamic team leader bonus, rank advancement bonus, 4 or more builder bonus, director bonus, sharing bonus.

Product Innovation: 3/5

Product Prices: $$$$ $70 for 30 servings ($2.30/Serving)

Reviews: 4.4 on Glassdoor, 2.61/5 BBB

Reasons To Join

Decent price, might be easier to digest if you can’t do powders, you can target specific uses for collagen.

Reasons To Avoid

Oversaturated market, only one type of collagen, extra ingredients, collagen is targeted to specific uses, and most people prefer powder collagen.

Modere’s line of collagen products is a solid second choice if you are looking to sell collagen from an MLM. They have a line of collagen products (Life, Pure, Skin, and Sport) all formulated for specific purposes, all of the collagen products have extra ingredients aimed to help specific problems.

While some customers might prefer specialized formulas with extra ingredients, our preference is one product that checks all our boxes. Additionally, generally speaking, powder collagen is our preferred form for collagen consumption and Modere’s collagen products are all in liquid form.

Modere got second place because the company has great reviews on Glassdoor and BBB, as well as a competitive compensation package. If you are going to choose an MLM for collagen, we still think Xyngular is a better choice, but if you want liquid collagen or specialized collagen, Modere is a good choice.

#3: Arbonne: Vegan Collagen Product From An Established MLM

Arbonne has been around for a while and has created a name in the market as a vegan-friendly brand. If you are looking for vegan products to help stimulate collagen production in your body, this is it.

Specifications

Years In Business: 38

Startup Costs For Distributor:  $79.00

Arbonne Compensation Plan: Override Commissions, Cash Bonuses, Sales Commissions, Mercedes-Benz Bonus Program

Product Innovation: 3.6/5

Product Prices: $58 for 30 servings ($1.93/Serving)

Reviews: 3.5 on Glassdoor, 2.36/5 on BBB

Reasons To Join

Vegan products, high-quality ingredients, decent online reviews

Reasons To Avoid

Oversaturated market, expensive, commissions aren’t as high as other MLMs, collagen product doesn’t actually have collagen, just other ingredients to stimulate your body’s production of collagen.

Arbonne has been around for a while and has created a name in the market as a vegan-friendly brand. If you are looking for vegan products to help stimulate collagen production in your body, this is it. This collagen-boosting product has vitamin C, hyaluronic acid, and biotin, which all support healthy immune responses, hair, skin, and nails.

However, if you want real collagen (bovine, marine, or chicken) you won’t find it at Arbonne. Arbonne suffers the same problem as other long-standing MLMs, they have been around so long the market is somewhat saturated in distributors. They also have a slightly lower commission than other MLMs, but they seem to attempt to supplement lower commissions with bigger bonuses, which is great as long as you can hit those bonus targets (it seems like that might be a difficult hurdle though). That being said, they have decent reviews online, the products are relatively inexpensive, and they are vegan, so if you want to try a vegan MLM collagen company, this is a great place to start.

#4: LifeVantage: Expensive Products From A Growing Company

This collagen product has ten types of collagen in one serving, which obviously packs a punch for multiple systems in your body.

Specifications

Years In Business: 10

Startup Costs For Distributor:  $50

LifeVantage Compensation Plan: Retail Sales Profit, Smart Start Bonus, Launch Bonus, Unilevel Commission, Generational Matching Bonus, Global Elite Bonus Pool, One-Time Rank Achievement Bonus, Multiple Business Centers

Product Innovation: 2.75/5

Product Prices: $$$$$ $168 for 30 servings ($5.60/Serving)

Reviews: 3.6 on Glassdoor, 4 Stars on BBB (4 reviews)

Reasons To Join

Growing company, room to “get in on the ground floor”, low cost of entry, multiple ways to earn income, 10 types of collagen in the liquid collagen.

Reasons To Avoid

Products are expensive, the compensation plan is robust and difficult to understand, liquid form of collagen, one source of collagen.

This product has ten types of collagen in one serving, which obviously packs a punch for multiple systems in your body.  It is also in a liquid form, and depending on your preference that can be a good thing (we prefer powdered collagen in general as it’s less noticeable in our drinks— no oily aftertaste). It only has marine collagen, which is not necessarily a great feature, although some people prefer just one source of collagen because they are allergic to other types.

Lifevantage has good reviews (although they only have four reviews on BBB so take that very high rating of 4 stars with a grain of salt), they’re a newer company (but not too new!) and they have a competitive compensation plan. That being said, the products (especially the collagen) are prohibitively expensive, which is not only a problem for customers but also distributors— it’s going to be a hard sell for most potential buyers. If you can find the right customer base, you might have decent success at selling this collagen product, but if you are going to join an MLM to sell collagen there are better options.

#5: Young Living: Low Ratings From Clients And Low Collagen Content

Young Living is known for its high-quality, natural oils used in all kinds of cleaning, beauty, and other products.

Specifications

Years In Business: 28

Startup Costs For Distributor:  $135 (includes oils)

Young Living Compensation Plan: Retail Sales, Fast Start Bonus, Generational Leadership Bonus, Diamond Leadership Bonus.

Product Innovation: 3.9/5

Product Prices: $$$$$ $85.20 for 25 servings ($3.48/Serving)

Reviews: 3.1 on Glassdoor, 1.63/5 BBB

Reasons To Join

Tons of products, marketed to everyone, decent compensation

Reasons To Avoid

Oversaturated market, expensive, collagen product only has 5 grams of marine collagen

Young Living is known for its high-quality, natural oils used in all kinds of cleaning, beauty, and other products. It’s an established company that has continued to produce new, natural products that have become favorites of people who prefer natural ingredients.

With a robust catalog of products to sell it may seem like a good idea to join as a distributor, but with lower ratings on Glassdoor (3.1) and very low on BBB (1.65), this may not be the best option for selling collagen through an MLM. Their collagen product is overpriced as well as only having 5 grams of marine collagen, and at a minimum to see results you need 8-12 grams.

While the startup cost includes a set of oils, it’s still much higher than other MLMs we’ve reviewed. With low ratings from Glassdoor and BBB, an incomplete collagen product that is vastly overpriced, this is not the MLM you want to join if you want to sell collagen successfully.

Let’s Talk Direct Sales And Network Marketing

We’ve all heard the negative side of network marketing. And to be fair, we’ve all known at least one person who has started with a network marketing company and become insufferable.  However, now more than ever, MLMs are trying to rescue their tainted reputations, and that effort is exemplified by better and more clear compensation plans and higher-quality products that are easier to sell.

For clarity’s sake, direct sales, network marketing, and MLMs are all the same basic business models. The company creates a product, and distributors either buy inventory or the company holds inventory to sell, then the distributor makes a profit off each sale. If you really want to make money, you have to bring on other distributors and then you make a profit off their sales. Many of these companies offer other bonuses, like a start-up bonus or a leadership bonus. Each company has a variety of incentives to help you make money, and when you onboard they go through each commission and bonus.

Is Direct Sales Worth It?

The trick with MLMs is that many people get involved thinking it will be “easy money” and to be fair, many companies market it that way. However, there’s no such thing as “easy money” and if you want to be successful at network marketing you are going to have to work at it, just like any other job.

Of course, like any industry, not all companies are created equally. You’ll want to look for a company that isn’t brand new, but you also don’t want one that has been around so long everyone is either a distributor themselves or has a distributor they already use. Look for a company that has a high-quality collagen product that isn’t outrageously priced— remember your collagen should have multiple types and sources, vitamin C, and at least 8 grams of collagen.

A word about the value of an MLM that sells a high quality collagen product–it’s a huge advantage to you, if you decide to sign up to sell these products, if you’re selling a consumable product that people will use daily or at least very regularly because that is the key to creating a customer list that is full of repeat customers! Once people use a high quality collagen supplement and begin to see the effects it has on their skin, hair, nails, and gut health, they are more likely to “subscribe” or “autoship” that product so they are never without it. So while no one is claiming MLM collagen is “easy money”…it’s certainly easier

You’ll also need to consider their BBB rating, as well as Glassdoor reviews. Consider the company compensation plans before you join, and make sure there are enough ways for you to make an income including commissions and bonuses, but steer clear of compensation plans that require a Ph.D. to understand.

Collagen: More Than A Supplement, An Income

We are in the business of spreading awareness about the benefits of collagen, and while MLMs have a bad reputation, we think that if you pick the right company, an MLM might be the best way to share about collagen and make a little money on the side. At the bare minimum, with most MLMs, simply joining can give you discounts on products you want to use for yourself. But, as in most industries, not all companies offer the same benefits and products, and if you pick the wrong one you can end up with products that don’t work or even lose money.

That’s why we picked Xyngular for our top network marketing company for collagen— they offer competitive commissions and bonuses, they have the highest Glassdoor rating, they have dozens of 5-star reviews on Google, they are new enough that they haven’t saturated the market, they’re solely focused on supplements, and their collagen product is by far the best of the collagens offered by these companies. If you’re ready to sell collagen and more to make money, sign up to be a distributor with Xyngular!
